You'll want to select a spot that fits your personality and the look you're going for. Here are just a few of my favorite local options:
Grandmother's Garden-Westfield, MA
Grandmother's Garden located in Westfield, MA is one of my favorite locations for senior portrait sessions. The garden is lovingly maintained year round and boasts an array of color blooms during every season. It's a compact location and doesn't involve a lot of walking. Despite being small in size, there are tons of stunning backdrop options to add variation to each and every shot.

Quabbin Reservoir-Ware, MA
Quabbin Reservoir is another fantastic location for senior pictures, especially those that are seeking a more rural location. Quabbin really shines in the fall months with it's show stopping foliage, but is truly a gorgeous spot year round. With water views, wooded paths, and expansive meadows, Quabbin has a little bit of everything for a nature lover! Quabbin has a fascinating history as well as being a water supply for Boston.

The Riverwalk at The Ludlow Mills-Ludlow, MA
This senior session location might with the award for most unique spot! The Ludlow Riverwalk at The Ludlow Mills has something for everyone. When you enter the parking lot you'll first notice the expansive brick mill buildings with huge green doors. The colors and texture make for the perfect spot for a more urban senior session feel. Hidden along the different buildings within the mill are funky windows, doors, and white washed brick. When you're ready for something more traditional, the woods and river are just a short walk away. Iron fencing, foliage, and some of the most beautiful river views offer the perfect contrast to the modern feel of the mills.

Fountain Park-Wilbraham, MA
Fountain Park in Wilbraham, MA is my go-to-spot for senior sessions during the early fall through winter months. It is certainly lovely no matter the season, but the tall grasses, open fields, and rustic buildings really shine during the later part of the year.
Bruuer Pond-Wilbraham, MA
This is the hidden gem of the senior session locations in Western Mass! Many locals drive by this little park daily, but never notice it. Bruuer Pond may be tiny, but it packs a lot of beauty into a small space. It's right off of Main Street in Wilbraham, so it's easy to access. There are rustic rock walls, a wooden bridge, and a trio of white birch trees within steps of the parking. I like this location year round, but find it especially beautiful in the spring and fall.
NEW-MGM Springfield-Springfield, MA
One of my senior portrait clients wanted to try something unique for his session and suggested the parking garage at MGM in Springfield. Always eager to try a new spot, I happily agreed to meet him there. I was not disappointed and although I've only photographed there the one time, I felt I should add it to the list. This is definitely the location for a more urban feel with views of the Springfield skyline and basketball hall of fame. I'm hoping to revisit this great spot soon!
It was hard to keep this list brief. There are so many wonderful locations around Western Mass for a senior portrait session. If you just can't decide, I'm always happy to talk with clients about all options. Remember, your backyard or any place that hold semimetal value can be the perfect spot for your session.
